Future Beauty

Future Beauty: Thirty years of Japanese fashion is an amazing exhibition at The Barbican which focuses on avant-garde Japanese fashion from 1980 to now. The designs were really inspiring and although we weren't allowed to take photos, I managed to snap a few! I definitely fell in love with this golden brown, nylon design by Loki Tatsuno 1993-94.

My favourite part of the exhibition were designs from Jun Takahashi's 'Undercover' label. I loved the way they were presented as though the clothing should blend in as part of the wallpaper.

Another beautiful design by Jun Takahashi. This dress also featured at the exhibition and although it's really difficult to see, it is actually made out of lots of small red skull cut outs.

Lanvin for H&M

H&M Regent Street

Tuesday 23rd November... queues of excited Lanvin fans waited to get their hands on the Lanvin for H&M collection. Standing in the cold for hours isn't exactly my idea of fun so I waited for the queues to die down and went down to H&M on Regent Street later in the afternoon. The display was brilliant, I managed to snap a few photos before I got told off by the security guard.

Overall I have to admit the collection wasn't quite what I had expected, I'd imagined everything to be amazing and thought I'd end up leaving with an empty purse. The designs were lovely but the materials used looked a bit cheap and I wasn't overly impressed, although there was one thing that caught my eye... A beautiful pair of red, patent heels with a ribbon tie and crystal gems on the heel.
The shoes were definitely my favourite item of the collection and it seems everyone else thought the same as there were hardly any left!

Pretty in velvet...

Recently I was flicking through Vogue magazine when I came across an article for velvet slippers. Yes that's right, the ones that remind you of your Grandad. Now it seems that wearing the slippers outdoors rather than indoors is the way forward. Modern, beautiful designs by Louboutin and D&G (to name just a few) have been paraded up and down the catwalk.
There's something about these slippers that is telling me I need a pair.  Probably the fact that I came across a photo of Olivia Palermo wearing them urged me to want them more. The most adorable pair I've seen have to be the Crockett & Jones floral embroidered pair. Possible addition to my christmas list...

Olivia Palermo loving life in her velvet slippers.

Crockett & Jones beautiful, floral slippers.

Hello,

I seem to have an opinion on almost everything, so why it has taken me so long to create my own blog I'm not sure. As a fashion journalism student the majority of my blog will be fashion based... Enjoy :)
